The Neurosurgical faculty provide surgical management of many infectious disorders of the central nervous system (CNS). This management includes stereotactic biopsy to provide a tissue diagnosis and culture of CNS abnormalities in patients with immunosuppressive disorders such as AIDS; craniotomy for drainage and excision of brain abscesses; and implantation of reservoirs to provide ventricular access for drugs that require direct instillation into the brain.
